AI and Daydream Engine
An important notice about the usage of AI in any form of our work
Hi, Daydream here.
Thanks to everyone who’s subscribed so far, and it’s been a real pleasure to produce content here through my love of solo roleplaying and other forms of written expression. Thanks to everyone that’s visited and checked out even one of the ‘P@ndemik In The Streets’ sessions.
To the point, some of you may have noticed that the sessions contain work that has been produced by AI. While AI artwork is roughly the most I’ll utilize AI in anything produced by Daydream Engine, AI is a controversial issue right now, especially in creative spaces such as the TTRPG world.
Some people will not engage with content at all if AI art is on the cover, or within the text. I don’t think I’m the only writer or creative who feels the pressure to conform to the wishes of the broader community in regards to AI, but I wanted to address the situation directly, as far as it concerns my own publishing entity.
So, Daydream Engine’s official policy on AI is…
Regardless of public backlash and possible damage to Daydream Engine’s emergent brand, we will continue to utilize AI in whatever form we deem appropriate (or fun) at any time we please.
I can give many reasons as to why this is the case, but the bottom line of it is that I enjoy playing with AI. It’s part of the overarching creative process that gives me so much joy, and to be really honest about it?
I just don’t like being pressured about how I should or should not produce content. I like making cool pictures and covers of characters through an emergent technology; myself and others who like to do the same shouldn’t be bullied or threatened with downvotes on Reddit, or lectures about how they’re destroying humanity.
I understand if some people may wish to cease engagement with this Substack upon reading this post, others may wish to unsubscribe, but it is what it is.
I wholly understand and respect alternate and opposite points of view in regards to this divisive issue. I only speak for myself, and hope that anyone who reads this sticks around—this operation of mine has a lot in the pipeline.
Thanks,
Daydream

I 100% support your view on this. AI is a tool and it can be quite fun to play with.
